The College of Physical Education and Recreational Sports (CoPERS) claimed the championship after outshining the College of Engineering (CoE) in the Men’s Basketball, last August 30 in the BulSu Activity Center.
In the first half of the game, the CoE reigned as they get the basket easily over to their seemed-low-defensive opponents, but the CoPERS managed to bounce back in the second half from their six-point deficit and remained upbeat until the last quarter of the game.
Kenneth Reyes, 21-year old lead scorer of CoPERS was the one of the main contributor of this victory achieving the big 24 points and 12 assists.
“Sipag at tiyaga lang. Sabi ni coach, malayo pa, pwede pang humabol kaya ayon, humabol kami,” said Reyes when asked about the key to turn up their play all the way to the championship.
“Tinamad na rin yung kalaban (CoE) sa tingin ko. Lumamang lang kami, tinamad na sila," he added.
Before they got in to the finals, CoPERS has once faced the College of Business Administration and College of Architecture and Fine Arts and has defeated them both. Now, the Men’s Basketball was added in their list of golds.
